Broncos top Forest Park

CRYSTAL FALLS — The Bark River-Harris girls basketball team capped its season here Thursday with a 66-31 win over Forest Park.

With the non-conference win, the Broncos finish the regular season at 14-6 and begin a short break before hosting the MHSAA Division 3 District 66 District Semifinal Wednesday against the winner of Manistique and West Iron Country — who upset the Broncos in their district opener last season.

Bark River jumped out to a 21-2 lead after the first quarter, and it never looked back.

“All our girls played good,” BR-H coach Matt Richer said. “It’s just a good way to end the season, and it’s kind of a last warm up before districts start for us.”

Lauren Zawada led the Broncos with a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Tressa Ives chipped in 12 points and five rebounds, and Cara Zawacki earned 10 points.

The Trojans were led by Rayven Jacobson and Gracie Peterson with nine points apiece.

The Broncos now wait to see who they host Wednesday in the district semifinals.

“Its’ been a fun season,” Richer said. “Now the real fun starts, and we start prepping for districts.”
