Wolves triumph over Soaring Eagles

HANNAHVILLE — With a 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-15) victory over the Hannahville Soaring Eagles in an MHSAA Division 4 District 99 semifinal Wednesday night, the Carney-Nadeau Wolves will contend for the district championship today against the Forest Park Trojans in Crystal Falls.

“Overall, I thought we played well,” said Wolves coach Steve Kedsch. “There’s a few unorthodox things we met against Hannahville. They took balls over first or second (hit) and came very quickly and precisely. But, I made a few adjustments there, and we were able to cover that.”

Malorie Baumler led the team in aces with nine, Samantha Kedsch assists with 23, Hailey DeGrave in kills with 10, and Olivia Accord in digs with 11.

“Mal did a great job serving tonight,” said coach Kedsch. “Hailey DeGrave, again, had a nice night at the night. She ended up with 10 kills for the night. When she was swinging hard she was able to get some nice kills.

“Kenzie Walcher did a good job defensively, and I thought Samantha Kedsch did a good job spreading the ball around tonight and getting the ball to our hitters in a good hitting position.”

Today’s MHSAA Division 4 District 99 Championship game between the Carney-Nadeau Wolves and Forest Park Trojans gets underway at 7 p.m. EST in Crystal Falls.

Carney-Nadeau — Mary Sivula (4 aces, 7 digs); Samantha Kedsch (23 assists, 4 digs); Kenzie Walcher (9 kills, 3 digs); Hailey DeGrave (5 aces, 10 kills); Malorie Baumler (9 aces, 5 kills, 5 digs); Olivia Accord (11 digs).
