Jets stay atop UPSSA poll
ESCANABA — North Central (4-0) retained its place atop the Upper Peninsula Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association U.P. Eight-Player Football poll and the Eight-Player in the Associated Press Michigan Prep Poll.
The Jets enforced their position with a 65-0 win over Lake Linden-Hubbell Saturday.
They were followed by Pickford (4-0), and Forest Park (4-0) moved up one place to third, knocking Rudyard (4-0) into fourth.
Ontonagon (3-1) moved up into fifth place, completely displacing Newberry.
Norway (3-1) and Munising (3-1) earned an honorable mention.
On the 11-player side, Marquette hosted and Kingsford 55-34 to jump up two places and take the top spot, while Kingsford (3-1) — which received an honorable mention in the AP Michigan Prep Poll — fell to second.
Menominee (3-1) — which received the tenth spot in the AP Michigan Prep Poll — likewise fell one spot to third, while Sault Ste. Marie (3-1) — which received an honorable mention in the AP Michigan Prep Poll — retained fourth.
Westwood (3-1) held fifth, and Gladstone (2-2) received an honorable mention after a 30-15 win over Escanaba.
Negaunee earned ninth spot in Division 6 in the AP Michigan Prep Poll, and Bark River-Harris received an honorable mention in Division 8.
