MARINETTE — A 22-year-old has been arrested in Marinette, Wisconsin, on a warrant for first-degree homicide out of Mississippi.

Jayden V. Cayou, 22, was arrested Wednesday by the joint City of Marinette and Marinette County Special Response Team.

According to the City of Marinette Police Department, Marinette law enforcement officers executed the arrest warrant for Cayou in the area of Merchant Street and Mary Street on Marinette Avenue.

Cayou is wanted in connection with the alleged murder of Sincyr Miller, according to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office in Natchez, Mississippi. Two other men were arrested in Mississippi in connection to Miller’s case — Jadarius R. Moore and Jalin L. Johnson.

The Natchez Democrat reported Cayou was atop the Adams County Sheriff’s Office’s Most Wanted List.

Cayou is currently being held at the Marinette County Jail pending an extradition hearing. Once Cayou signs an extradition waiver, arrangements will be made for transportation back to Mississippi.

“This successful arrest is the result of outstanding teamwork between multiple law enforcement agencies across state lines,” the Adams County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. “We are especially grateful to the U.S. Marshals Service, who worked hand in hand with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division to locate Cayou and coordinate his apprehension. Their expertise and relentless efforts were instrumental in bringing this operation to a successful conclusion.”

The Marinette Police Department was assisted by the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, Aurora Medical Center-Bay Area Paramedics and the U.S. Marshals Service for their assistance.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Office extends its sincere appreciation to the United States Marshals Service, the Marinette Police Department, the Marinette County Sheriff’s Office, the Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, and the Marinette County Special Response Team for their professionalism, dedication and commitment to bringing this fugitive into custody.

“Justice has no borders. When law enforcement agencies work together, those who believe they can outrun accountability quickly learn otherwise,” said Sheriff Patten of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office. “To every agency involved, thank you for your professionalism, your partnership, and your unwavering commitment to justice. Because of your efforts, the family of Sincyr Miller is one step closer to seeing justice served.”
