Gladstone tops Jets late

GLADSTONE — Sophomore Austin Bagwell went 2-for-2, and junior Cam Kelly had two hits, leading the Gladstone Braves to a 9-5 baseball victory over the North Central Jets here Wednesday night.

The Braves led 5-1 in the middle innings before the Jets closed within 5-4.

A sacrifice bunt by John Soderman then made it 6-4.

“That gave us little more of a cushion,” said Braves coach Lucas LaCosse. “They’re a decent hitting team. They definitely didn’t go away.”

Nick Martin stole two bases, and Noah Peterson and Tyler Darmogray shared the pitching duties.

“Noah went three innings and threw 82 pitches, and Tyler came in and threw strikes,” said LaCosse. “Defensively, we played well when he had to. We had a few outstanding catches. Everybody on the team got a hit, and we had a few steals.”

The Braves visit Peshtigo, Wis. tonight at 5:30.
