Esky boys top Flivvers
KINGSFORD — The Escanaba Eskymos remained unbeaten this season, posting a 10-4 baseball victory over the Kingsford Flivvers here Wednesday night.
Tyler Lawson collected three hits, and Collin Arnt added two for the Eskymos, who improved to 8-0 overall and 3-0 in the Great Northern Conference.
“The top of our order did a super job, and Nick Kolich got a big double in the third inning,” said Esky coach Scott Hanson. “We played well. That was a nice conference win for us.”
Esky trailed 2-0 in the first inning before scoring three times in the second.
The Eskymos added a run in the fourth. Trent and Tyler Lawson and Arnt then drove in runs in a five-run fifth for a 9-2 advantage.
Hunter Lancour took the win, striking out eight and allowing four runs on five hits through six innings.
“Hunter pitched awesome,” said Hanson. “They got to Hunter a little in the first inning, then he settled in. He threw strikes and kept them off balance. Their starting pitcher also did a nice job. He’s crafty. He changed speeds real well and kept us off balance, but ended up throwing 80 pitches through three innings.”
