HERMANSVILLE — Bay College assistant women’s basketball coach Maria Wiltzius shot the lights out here Sunday, helping the Marinette Basketball Junkies earn a 60-49 victory over Cunard BAE Massage in the championship game of the 82nd Annual Gold Medal Classic tournament.
The Kingsford graduate knocked down at least a half-dozen 3-point shots in the second half and finished with 38 points.
“It’s about time,” said Wiltzius, who was selected the tournament’s Outstanding Player. “I hadn’t been shooting that well lately. My teammates set some screens, and I was able to get open. They (BAE) were tough and scrappy. We got ahead early, but their defense got them back in the game.”
