Gladstone’s postseason ends against Gremlins

HOUGHTON — The Gladstone Braves fell Tuesday night to the Houghton Gremlins 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-7) in the opening round of Division 2 district playoffs in Houghton.

“I think we struggled with our receiving and passing,” said Gladstone coach Averi Kanyuh. “There was not much for hitting with our offense.”

Despite the loss, Kanyuh said there were still several positive performances from the Braves.

“Amber (King-Rabitoy) had a great serving run in the third set,” she said. “Joyce Barron stepped up in the front row hitting, so did Kenzington Pepin.”

Kanyuh also mentioned Megan Crow and all of the seniors for a great year of volleyball, especially with the circumstances surrounding COVID-19.

With the loss, the Braves’ season comes to an end, while the Houghton Gremlins will be in Escanaba Thursday.

Starting at $3.50/week.
