Big Bay girls pick up weekend sweep
BEAVER ISLAND — The Big Bay de Noc girls cruised to a weekend sweep of Beaver Island here Saturday, winning by a final score of 65-29 in a Northern Lights League basketball contest.
The Black Bears led 14-8 after the first quarter and then dominated the second to take a 30-11 lead into halftime.
Meagan Yonker led the way with 17 points. Gracynn Durrance and Kaitlyn Massengill each chipped in a double-double; Durrance finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds while Massengill scored 12 points and grabbed 12 boards. Camryn Pederson added nine points and five steals.
The Black Bears (9-2, 8-0 NLL) also posted a 58-25 victory Friday.
Yonker scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed five steals. Alix Bleau added 10 points and six steals, while Durrance chipped in eight points and 11 rebounds. Piper Jones also had 11 boards.
The Black Bears visit Hannahville Wednesday.
