Jets re-enter hoops poll

ESCANABA — After a big 66-54 win over Rapid River Jan. 20, the North Central boys re-entered the latest U.P. basketball poll at No. 4 in Division 4.

The Rockets remained at No. 5 after bouncing back with an 81-65 home win over Bark River-Harris Thursday. Pickford also moved past Rudyard for the No. 2 spot after beating the Bulldogs 62-50 on the road Thursday. The Bulldogs dropped to No. 3, while unbeaten Dollar Bay was again the unanimous No. 1.

Everything remained the same in Division 1-3, with Iron Mountain and Negaunee ranked No. 1 and 2 ahead of their big showdown tonight in Negaunee. Marquette still holds the third spot, followed by Escanaba (7-4) and Westwood.

There were zero changes in either of the girls polls. Unbeaten Menominee is still No. 1 in Division 1-3, followed by Westwood, Sault Ste. Marie, Marquette and Negaunee.

St. Ignace remained No. 1 in Division 4, followed by Ewen-Trout Creek, Baraga, Pickford and North Dickinson.
