Turnovers hurt R.R.
RAPID RIVER — Turnovers proved costly to the Rapid River girls Tuesday night as they dropped a season-opening 42-33 basketball decision to the Norway Knights.
The Rockets trailed 21-19 at halftime and finished with 26 miscues in Tony Perino’s coaching debut.
Natalie Belanger scored 14 points and blocked three shots for the Rockets, who trailed 21-19 at halftime in the Skyline Central Conference contest.
Kristin Goodacre recorded six steals and three assists for the Rockets..
Ada Van Holla hit 14 points for the Knights, who hit 14-of-42 field goals and committed 19 turnovers. The Rockets were 17-of-66 from the floor.
The Rockets travel to Superior Central Friday. Norway visits Big Bay de Noc Friday.
