EDITOR: A good media should be unbiased. Even on the Opinion page. Jaime Stiehm writes about how we should be voting for the liberal left. And she just can’t get out of her own way. EDITOR: As a Christian, the act of abortion has never been an option. I consider life and deaths matters for the Lord. However, I would like to point out to everyone that Proposal 3 is bad legislation. There isn’t any guidance or parameters for all the rights given to women. Will a 14 year old girl have the right to abortion, sex change, sterilization....all without parent involvement? Remember, they can’t drive, buy a beer, smoke a cigarette, or skip school. EDITOR: My husband, the late Paul Caswell, loved our community and was extremely interested in our city and county government, including serving on the planning commission. Several years ago, he met a young business owner by the name of Kelli VanGinhoven and told me how impressed he was with her desire to serve her community, her determination to work hard to achieve her goals, and her eagerness to learn all she could about city and county government. Misleading ad

EDITOR: In a recent television ad, Jack Bergman took credit for getting fiber optic lines installed in rural areas for Internet and cell phones, “Working for the people of the U.P. and Northern Michigan”. He voted against the bill that’s paying for this. In the same vein, he also voted against the measures to bring inflation down. What integrity. Claim credit for getting things done but voting against the bills that are passed to get it done. Voting the party instead of the people. How do you sleep at night? Christine Derouin Cornell

Proposal 3

EDITOR: There are two elements of daily life we take for granted. That we are alive (life) and we live within a society of our making (governed by laws). Instances in which these two elements become intertwined can cause confusion. While science cannot be changed (gravity will always be gravity), our laws and their applications are subject to change as values in society change.
