In another 20- 25 years, the youth in this country will be the ones in charge. That is a scary thought. For example; Re: the Hamas terrorist attacks, and Israeli response. If you ask the next 20 people if they know what has happened. I would guess that maybe 3 people have any idea. College campuses are wildly protesting Israel. A few days ago, there was a reporter asking the protesters why they were there. A couple of them were holding signs calling for a ceasefire. This was 4 days into the ceasefire!

The Jay Leno show used to do the Jaywalking segments. Jesse Watters has Johnny do the same “man on the street” interviews. It is really sad how people are so utterly ignorant of what is going on. They don’t know much of anything. They don’t have basic knowledge that people my age were taught. We know who the vice president is, or which ocean is which. What are they teaching in schools today?

Our education system has failed as well as individuals have failed. I remember Social Studies classes with Mr. Hirn. He always started class with current events. I took it as a challenge to find out what was going on so Mr. Hirn would be proud. Mr. Barret, English Class, was also well-versed in current events. Two of my favorite teachers because they made me think. They made “news” fun.

People should really take an hour and watch a news channel. Find out what is going on. Get involved in life.
