Support for Bob Petersen

EDITOR:

In past times, the last few months before an election were referred to as the “Silly Season.” Now, with the preponderance of malice on both sides of the political spectrum it is more “Sad” than silly.

Party polarization has created divisions within all aspects of our society and even family structure. How many of you look forward to the table discussions this Thanksgiving if politics comes up? Friends and neighbors fall into this category as well. Just look at the contrast of Red and Blue political signs in yards and on the highway.

The people of the 5th district of Delta County fortunately have an excellent alternative to the Republican/Democrat only choice. A most qualified candidate is available as an independent running for the seat, Bob Petersen.

I have known Bob Petersen for close to 20 years. I have had numerous discussions on topics ranging from religion to the environment to concerns for the economic strength of Delta County and the U.P. in general. Yeah, the discussions became intense on occasion, but Bob always listened and asked for clarification of some of my positions. When was the last time you heard a politician ask that?

Being an independent frees Bob to consider the state of his district and the county in general without the burden of having to account to any “party” official. He is free to look at things with an open mind, not shutting out ideas that conflict with strict political positions. And you, the voter, are now exempt from considering things along a party line.

Please note that if you vote a “Straight” party ticket, you can still vote for an “Independent” candidate in any office. This removes the “Party” candidate and inserts Bob Petersen as your choice to represent District 5 of Delta County.

I truly believe choosing Bob Petersen as your representative will benefit not just your district, but the county as well.
