Barbara A. Dreon

NEGAUNEE /ESCANABA — Barbara Ann Dreon, 91, a resident at Eastwood Nursing Center, Negaunee, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, February 24, 2021. She was a former Escanaba resident as well as Northwoods Place Assisted Living, also in Escanaba.

Barbara was born April 14, 1929 in Ishpeming to Arvid and Hilder (Askew) Sjoholm and resided in National Mine. She graduated from National Mine School, Class of 1946. She married Sergio Dreon in National Mine on December 2, 1950. They later made their home in Negaunee before moving to Rockford, Ill, Sault Ste. Marie, Mich, Green Bay, Wis, and finally settling in Escanaba.

Barbara and Sergio always loved looking forward to spending their summer with family and friends at their camp on West Bass Lake near Gwinn.

Surviving are her daughter, Sheila (Bill) Lehouillier of Cornell; her sister, Bobbie (Dick) Hebert of Ishpeming; as well as nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Sergio in 2016; two brothers, Arvy and Ted Sjoholm; and two sisters, Gina (Bob) Maki and Betty (William) Maki, who remarried the late Hubert Rajala.

Honoring Barbara’s wishes, private graveside services and burial will take place at the Negaunee Cemetery.
