Rose Ann ‘Dolly’ Dufour

ESCANABA, Mich. — Rose Ann “Dolly” Dufour, 83, of Escanaba, passed away Feb. 12, 2020, at Aurora Medical Center in Marinette, Wis.

Dolly was born Feb. 6, 1937, in Escanaba, Mich., the daughter of Charles and Emma (Girard) Perryman of Escanaba.

Dolly graduated from Escanaba High School in June of 1954. She married Ronald Dufour Oct. 27, 1956, in Escanaba. They moved to Germany as Ron was in the U.S. Army and stationed there.

After they moved back, Dolly spent many years working as a floral designer for Wickerts and Delta Floral in Escanaba.

After she and Ron retired, they frequently traveled to Florida during the winter where they enjoyed being by the Gulf of Mexico instead of feet of snow.

Dolly loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, listening to them talk about their lives. It truly made her happy, being with her family doing the simple things in life like laughing, playing cards whether it be Cribbage or Spite and Malice or drinking Bloody Mary’s or having a beer at the Upper Hand.

Dolly also enjoyed watching the deer in her backyard in the winter and in the summer feeling the warm sun while getting brown as a berry. Dolly learned how to play golf after she had married Ron. They even won a local golf championship or two in the Escanaba area. They shared many rounds of golf with their friends the Meniers. They would often go golfing and then go out to enjoy a beer and a burger at the Breezy.

Weekends, in the fall, were spent listening to the Escanaba Eskymos on the radio and watching the Green Bay Packers on TV. A love that she passed on to her children and grandchildren.

Dolly loved having their dog Buddy, who was always a constant companion everywhere she and Ron would go. He will miss her dearly.

In addition to her loving Husband, Dolly is survived by her children, Michelle Dufour of Howell, Mich., and Bill (Annette) Dufour of Gladstone, Mich.; six grandchildren, Kailee Dufour of Howell, Mich.., Abby Dufour of Chicago, Ill., Ben Dufour of Escanaba, Jake Eastin of Escanaba, George Eastin of East Lansing, Mich., and Nick Dufour of Mount Pleasant, Mich.; brother, Howard (June) Perryman of Renton, Wash.

Dolly was looking forward to meeting her future great-grandson, Beau Aaron Dufour (May 2020).

In addition to her parents, Dolly is preceded in death by brothers, Charles Jr. (Skip), James Francis (Max), Tommy and Bobby Perryman, and sisters, Carol McMahon, Billie Ann Makosky and Marilyn McGinnis.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. until noon at the First Presbyterian Church in Escanaba. A memorial service will follow visiting hours at noon with Pastor Terri Branstrom officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.
