ESCANABA — The Escanaba City Council will convene Thursday evening to consider various agenda items for approval.
On the council’s agenda is a resolution that would name City Controller and Interim City Manager Melissa Becotte as the authorized agent for the State Disaster Relief Grant.
According to the resolution, the City of Escanaba sustained severe financial losses of major proportions brought on by the blizzard event of March 15 to 16 of this year, resulting in a financial burden on the city totaling almost $73,000.
If approved, the Escanaba City Council will request Governor Gretchen Whitmer authorize a grant to the city from the State Disaster Contingency Fund, and Becotte would be authorized to execute the city’s application for financial assistance.
Also on Thursday, council members will consider adopting the 2026 City of Escanaba Master Plan, as adopted by the Escanaba Planning Commission on Friday and prepared by Beckett & Raeder in cooperation with the commission.
According to their website, Beckett & Raeder is a landscape architecture, planning, engineering and environmental services firm headquartered in Ann Arbor.
The January 2026 draft of the city’s master plan can be found on the city’s website within the Escanaba City Council meeting agenda for Thursday.
Additionally, council members will consider hiring Arrow Construction to replace approximately 550 linear feet of curb along Washington Avenue North for $14,850.
