Secretary of State office in Escanaba to close for one week
Most transactions can be done online

ESCANABA - The Secretary of State office at 305 Ludington St. in Escanaba will be closed for one week for HVAC upgrades to the State Office Building, but most residents can go online to Michigan.gov/SOS instead for their transactions.
The office will be closed on Monday, May 4 and will resume normal service at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 11.
Most transactions can be done from computer, tablet, or mobile phone.
For those without internet access at home, the nearest self-service station is located in the Meijer store at 505 N. 26th St. Self-service stations provide instant license plate, driver’s license and ID renewals, as well as some other transactions.
Residents who need to come into an office for Secretary of State services during the closure period may schedule a visit to the closest alternative office at Michigan.gov/SOS or by calling 888-767-6424. The nearest offices are located at 1044 S. Stephenson Ave. in Iron Mountain and 1305 8th Ave. in Menominee.
The Iron Mountain office is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT, and on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CDT.
The Menominee office is open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT with a one-hour lunch closure from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. CDT. On Wednesdays, it is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. CDT with a one-hour lunch closure from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. CDT.
