Woman jailed on meth charge

ESCANABA — A woman from Green Bay, Wis. was recently sentenced to 10 months in the Delta County Jail after methamphetamine was discovered in a vehicle she was traveling in.
Joy Beth Bean, 45, was sentenced following the entry of a guilty plea to Attempted Possession of Methamphetamine, a felony punishable by up to a maximum of five years in prison.
On Aug. 11, 2021, officers from Escanaba Public Safety executed a traffic stop on a vehicle in the city of Escanaba. Officers identified Bean as the rear passenger in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted and a loaded needle with what was eventually determined to be methamphetamine was located where Bean had been seated. A baggie of methamphetamine was also located on Bean’s person.
Escanaba Department of Public Safety was assisted in its investigation by the Delta County Sheriff’s Office and the Michigan State Police.
