Fall harvest and cider making

Courtesy photos

The Delta Bay Area Girl Scouts came together recently to harvest a variety of squash, such as butternut and acorn varieties. Between the 30 Girl Scouts, they gathered over 500 squash. All the produce was donated to local food pantries. The Girl Scouts were also able to pick a pumpkin of their choice. The only condition was that they had to be able to carry it themselves. After a hay ride back from the field, the Girl Scouts experienced hands on how to make apple cider using an apple press that was 100 years old. They went through the entire process — from washing, to the first wave of chunking the apples to the actual pressing.

Starting at $4.00/week.
