Missing Marquette Twp. man’s body found
MARQUETTE — The body of a Marquette Township man who had been missing since Monday was discovered Thursday north of Sugarloaf Mountain.
The pickup truck of Aaron McGeorge, age 40, was located Tuesday morning on County Road 550 near Hogsback Mountain. It is believed he had gone to the area to hike.
At 11:35 a.m. Thursday, McGeorge’s body was located by a Blackhawk Medivac helicopter crew from the Wisconsin Air National Guard on the east side of County Road 550. The body was discovered about 200 yards northeast of there McGeorge’s truck was found.
The Marquette County Medical Examiner’s Office will investigate and determine the official cause and manner of death. No foul play is suspected and an autopsy is scheduled for today.
According to the Marquette County Sheriff’s Office, numerous factors made the search difficult. The terrain is rugged, it is a heavily recreated area, there is no cell phone service, the victim had no device that could be tracked, and the victim didn’t tell anyone where he was going.
