Side-by-side driver airlifted

BRAMPTON — A crash involving a side-by-side and a pickup truck last week resulted in serious injuries to a Gladstone man, who was airlifted to Marquette from the scene.
On Thursday, June 18 at approximately 2:30 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gladstone Post responded to a reported crash on Brampton 27.5 Road in Brampton Township.
A preliminary investigation indicated that both a pickup truck and a side-by-side style utility terrain vehicle (UTV) were traveling westbound on Brampton 27.5 Road when the pickup truck struck the UTV.
The UTV, operated by a a 66-year-old Gladstone man and carrying two juvenile passengers, appeared to have been attempting to turn left onto Trail 2. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The driver of the UTV sustained serious injuries. Guardian Flight responded and airlifted him to UP Health System – Marquette for further treatment.
Guardian Flight called the scene response successful, adding, “These missions take all of us working together to provide the best care possible and get patients where they need to be safely. We’re grateful to work alongside such dedicated partners every day.”
The young passengers riding in the UTV were not injured. The driver of the pickup truck and a juvenile passenger in the truck also were not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
