Delta County sees 38 new virus cases, Menominee 37

Local data Wednesday showed 38 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in Menominee County and 37 more cases in Delta County since Monday.

Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties also raised Menominee County’s probable case count by 22 and Delta County’s probables by eight.

The PHDM website Monday had Delta County at 4,084 confirmed positives, 883 probable cases and 98 deaths. Menominee County has had 2,186 confirmed positives, 553 probables and 43 deaths. The deaths included confirmed and probable.

At the state level, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services coronavirus website Wednesday listed 290 new confirmed COVID-19 positives in the Upper Peninsula since Monday: 65 in Marquette County, 40 in Menominee County, 37 in Delta County, 31 in Dickinson County, 23 in Chippewa County, 19 in Houghton County, 16 in Alger and Baraga counties, 13 in Schoolcraft County, 10 in Mackinac County, seven in Iron County, five in Keweenaw County, four in Luce County, three in Gogebic County and one in Ontonagon County. The state recorded new virus-related deaths in Marquette and Mackinac counties while reducing Gogebic County’s toll by one.

Using only the MDHHS numbers, the Upper Peninsula as of Wednesday has had 23,593 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 467 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data Wednesday had Keweenaw County at 171 confirmed cases and 34 probable, and three confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 258 confirmed cases and 314 probable, four confirmed deaths and one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 424 confirmed cases and 139 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 427 confirmed, 259 probable and three deaths, four probable; Ontonagon County, 498 confirmed, 62 probable and 21 deaths, one probable; Mackinac County, 620 confirmed cases and 314 probable, five deaths; Baraga County, 824 confirmed cases, 145 probable and 41 deaths, three probable; Iron County, 1,136 confirmed cases and 100 probable, 43 deaths and 10 probable; Gogebic County, 1,226 confirmed cases and 374 probable, 23 deaths and 29 probable; Chippewa County, 1,292 confirmed cases and 1,703 probable, and 30 deaths, five probable; Menominee County, 2,182 confirmed cases, 534 probable and 44 deaths, three probable; Dickinson County, 2,720 confirmed cases and 664 probable, 60 deaths and 15 probable; Houghton County, 2,820 confirmed cases, 638 probable, 38 deaths and nine probable; Delta County, 4,075 confirmed cases and 873 probable, 80 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 4,920 confirmed cases, 1,019 probable and 68 deaths, one probable. State figures can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Wednesday had 6,079 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan since Monday, or an average of about 3,040 per day for the two days, for a total to date of 1,001,989. The state Wednesday added 81 deaths attributed to the virus — including 52 that occurred earlier but were recently verified through a vital records review — to reach 20,781.
