Seven new virus cases in Schoolcraft

State COVID-19 data Friday showed seven more confirmed positives in Schoolcraft County, four in Delta County and two in Menominee County.

For the Upper Peninsula, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services’ coronavirus website Friday listed 62 new confirmed cases: 18 in Marquette County; nine in Chippewa County; seven in Schoolcraft and Houghton counties; five in Luce County; four in Delta, Dickinson and Iron counties; two in Menominee County; and one each in Alger and Mackinac counties.

Using only the state’s figures, the Upper Peninsula as of Friday has had 17,372 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 399 deaths.

Across the U.P., the MDHHS data site Friday had Keweenaw County at 124 confirmed cases and 31 probable, and one confirmed death and one probable death; Luce County, 144 confirmed cases and 133 probable, one probable death; Schoolcraft County, 260 confirmed cases and 45 probable, four deaths and one probable; Alger County, 288 confirmed, 166 probable and one death, four probable; Mackinac County, 322 confirmed cases and 169 probable, three deaths; Ontonagon County, 376 confirmed, 56 probable and 20 deaths, one probable; Baraga County, 520 confirmed cases, 107 probable and 33 deaths; Chippewa County, 880 confirmed

cases and 1,186 probable, and 25 deaths, five probable; Iron County, 884 confirmed cases and 61 probable, 42 deaths and nine probable; Gogebic County, 972 confirmed cases and 357 probable, 22 deaths and 28 probable; Menominee County, 1,655 confirmed cases, 281 probable and 39 deaths, two probable; Dickinson County, 2,202 confirmed cases and 258 probable, 55 deaths and 16 probable; Houghton County, 2,291 confirmed cases, 559 probable, 32 deaths and eight probable; Delta County, 2,804 confirmed cases and 526 probable, 67 deaths and 19 probable; and Marquette County, 3,650 confirmed cases, 630 probable and 55 deaths, one probable. State numbers are updated almost daily but can lag behind local reports or have other discrepancies.

The MDHHS on Friday posted 5,498 confirmed new coronavirus positives in Michigan for a total of 683,793. The state added 20 new deaths Friday to reach 16,161.
