Ford River home destroyed by blaze

FORD RIVER — A home on 9th Lane in Ford River was destroyed by fire Tuesday but only minor injuries were reported.

At approximately 4:57 a.m. Tuesday, the Ford River Volunteer Fire Department was called to a fully-engulfed house fire in Ford River, according to the department. Firefighters were on scene for about six hours, and the home was deemed a total loss.

The homeowner was transported by Rampart EMS to OSF St. Francis Hospital for minor injuries and was treated and released.

The Ford River Volunteer Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Escanaba Public Safety, Michigan State Police, the Delta COunty Sheriff’s Office, Rampart EMS, UPPCO, and Delta County Central Dispatch. Food and coffee for the firefighters was providede by McDonald’s
