Esky classes to continue online format

ESCANABA — Escanaba School District students in grades sixth through 12th will continue with online learning through winter break.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services issued an order extending the requirements contained in its prior order of November 15, 2020. As a result, the Escanaba Area Public Schools will continue to operate as follows:

– Grades 6-12 will remain fully remote through Friday, December 18. Students will stream into their classes following their regular daily schedules. Friday will follow the abbreviated schedule.

– Grades BK-5 will continue with face to face instruction through Friday, December 18.

– Sports and extracurriculars for all schools remain postponed.

“This is a challenging time for students, parents, and staff, and the District is ready to provide support in any way we can. Our teachers, counselors, social workers, and behavioral interventionists are eager to help where needed. If you or anyone you know needs assistance, please tell us. We are available in person, by telephone, or online,” Superintendent Dr. Coby Fletcher stated in a message to the families of students.”

The school will also continue to prepare and distribute meals and are able to provide breakfast and lunch for all children ages birth to 18.
