ESCANABA — On Saturday, April 20, Teresa Hosier received the 2024 MIAEYC Brian White Early Childhood Associates Degree Scholarship. The Michigan Association for the Education of Young Children (MIAEYC) selects one student each year to receive this scholarship. The scholarship is meant to recognize and encourage students enrolled in associate degree programs who choose a career in early childhood education, working with, and on behalf of young children birth through age 8, to take leadership positions within the field.

She resides in South Haven, Mich. and is a leader in the Bay College Early Childhood Education Program. Her immediate goal is to achieve her Associates of Arts Degree in Early Childhood. Her long-term goal is to be an infant mental health consultant or social worker.

Her passion for early childhood education began at the age of 5 in her mother’s home-based day care. She has a special interest in supporting children’s social-emotional health and helping them manage their emotions. Her goal is to assist children facing challenges related to social-emotional deficits and trauma, providing them with the support and resources they need for success in school and life.

Bay College and the Early Childhood Education Program extend their congratulations to Teresa for her award and express gratitude for her exemplary leadership in Early Childhood Education in Michigan.
