Activities of the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department from March 14 to March 20:

March 15

12:57 p.m. – a deputy assisted Hannahville Police Department on a call for a possible domestic on the reservation. Upon further investigation a 38-year-old Wilson woman was arrested on a valid warrant out of Delta County. The warrant was for failure to appear for an original charge of possession of cocaine. The female was transported the Delta County Jail where she was lodged.

05:05 p.m. – a deputy arrested a 44-year-old Menominee woman on a valid warrant out of 41st Circuit Court of Menominee from Marinette County. The warrant was for failure to appear for an original charge of controlled substance, deliver/manufacture methamphetamine. She was transported to the Menominee County Jail where she was lodged.

March 16

03:18 p.m. – a deputy was dispatched to a breaking and entering complaint that had occurred a month earlier. The caller stated she had some property stolen from her residence and she had a suspect. An investigation was conducted and is ongoing.

10:54 a.m. – a deputy was dispatched to a gas drive off on US 41 in Powers. Contact was made with the suspect and he made arrangements to pay.

05:35 p.m. – a deputy was dispatched to an out-of-control juvenile on Cedar Street in Spalding Township. The juvenile was apprehended and turned back over to his parents until further court action could take place.

March 17

03:21 a.m. – a deputy initiated a traffic stop for speed on US 41 in the City of Stephenson. Upon further investigation the driver an 18-year-old Peshtigo man was issued a citation for possession of marijuana and a warning for speed.

10:16 a.m. – Deputies were dispatched to a possible domestic on 26 Lane in Daggett Township. Upon further investigation it was found to be a family dispute and all parties had calmed down. The incident was cleared.

March 18

12:55 a.m. – a deputy was dispatched to a one vehicle traffic crash on N-1 in Nadeau Township. The driver was unable to negotiate a curve and left the roadway striking a tree. No injuries were reported but the vehicle sustained disabling damage and had to be towed.

06:51 p.m. – a deputy initiated a traffic stop on Ashland Ave in Spalding Township for an equipment violation. Upon further investigation the driver, a 29-year-old Wilson woman was arrested for failure to answer citation. She was able to post the required bond and she was released a short time later.

11:26 p.m. – a deputy assisted Michigan State Police on County Road 577 in Lake Township for a report of a firearms threat. The caller stated they were threatened by a subject with a firearm. Upon further investigation the suspect, a 64-year-old Stephenson man was arrested and transported to the Menominee County Jail.

March 20

9:34 a.m. – a deputy was dispatched to a possible domestic on River Drive in Menominee Township. The caller stated she wanted to report an assault that had occurred on a previous visit to the residence. The investigation is ongoing and in the process of going through court.

3:02 p.m. – Deputies along with fire were dispatched to a grass fire on D-1 Rd in Harris Township. The fire was able to be contained and no injuries were reported.

7:06 p.m. – a deputy initiated a traffic stop on US 41 in the City of Stephenson for speeding. Upon further investigation the driver, a 42-year-old Carney man was arrested for operating while under the influence of drugs, no operator’s license and given a written warning for speeding. The suspect was lodged at the Menominee County Jail.

9:57 p.m. – Deputies along with fire were dispatched to a structure fire on US 41 in Mellen Township. The caller was able to get the fire out and the fire department assisted with hotspots. The homeowner refused medical treatment.
