ESCANABA — Jeff Sierpien, is working with the City of Escanaba Recreation Department to organize and host a Bay Area Veteran’s Fishing Derby on Saturday, June 11.

The purpose of the event is to give some Upper Peninsula military veterans a fun-filled day of fishing followed by a luncheon and raffles in Ludington Park.

Following a morning of fishing, the veterans will receive a meal and be part of raffles.

There is no cost to the veterans. If anyone is interested in providing a space on their boat to fish Lake Michigan or local inland waters, donate prizes/food or would like to assist in other ways email BayVetFishing@yahoo.com for more information.
