ESCANABA — Wayne Scott Spens, 30, of Gladstone was sentenced to 18 months to five years in prison following the entry of a plea to attempted assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder or by strangulation, interference with electronic communication, and domestic violence, 2nd offense.
On July 9, 2020, Michigan State Police were called to a residence in Rapid River for a complain of domestic violence. The female victim reported she was in a relationship with Spens and that Spens “snapped” and dragged her around the residence by her hair. Spens also held her down on the ground and had prevented the victim from calling for police.
Jeffery William Dickerson, 40, of Escanaba was sentenced to 8 years to 20 years in prison following the entry of a guilty plea to Delivery/Manufacture Methamphetamine.
On June 30, 2020, detectives with the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team conducted an investigation in which methamphetamine was purchased from Dickerson from his residence in the city of Escanaba. A lab test of that methamphetamine later tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine. On August 6, 2020, a search warrant was executed at Dickerson’s residence. UPSET detectives, along with deputies from the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, MI and officers from Escanaba Department of Public Safety . Methamphetamine was located in a safe located in Dickerson’s bedroom.
