Efforts on to provide Thanksgiving meals

ESCANABA — Cheryl Andzejewski, executive director of the Community Foundation for Delta County and Tom Mitchell, board of trustee member of the community foundation recently presented Major Alex Norton of the Salvation Army and Volunteer Secretary Debra Marunde of the New Harvest Church in Escanaba with pro-active checks to help provide meals to the needy over the holiday season.

“When the Salvation Army contacted the community foundation asking for assistance in helping those in need, especially the increased need for meals over the holiday season, the community foundation wanted to help lessen their stress and awarded them with a monetary pro-active grant as well as donating all the turkeys they need to provide Thanksgiving Turkey Meals for those in need thru the Salvation Army’s Community Thanksgiving Meal Drive-Thru Pick-Up scheduled for Wednesday, November 25, 2020, “ states Mr. Mitchell.

The New Harvest Church has recently opened a new Soup Kitchen in Escanaba and wanted to collaborate with the Community Foundation for Delta County and the Salvation Army in their missions to help those in need,” states Mrs. Andzejewski.  She continued, “The Community Foundation Board of Trustees and Staff are impressed with all of the good the New Harvest Church Soup Kitchen is doing for the community and for their willingness to help with the increased need of those needing a meal over the holiday season. Besides awarding them with a monetary pro-active grant, the community foundation is donating all the hams they need to provide Thanksgiving Ham Meals for those in need thru the New Harvest Church Community Thanksgiving Meal Drive-Thru Pick-Up scheduled for Thursday, November 26, 2020″.

Major Norton and Marunde commented, “The Community Foundation for Delta County was so helpful in streamlining our collaboration with one another.  Their generous donations are the reason why the Salvation Army and New Harvest Soup Kitchen can offer Community Thanksgiving Drive-Thru, Pick-Up Meals to those in need.  We cannot express the gratitude and thankfulness we have to the Community Foundation for Delta County for their generosity”.  They continued, “Anyone in need of a Thanksgiving meal needs to call and reserve a meal.  Only reserved, drive-thru pick-up meals will be available.  Quantities are limited so please call as soon as possible.”
