Community Action offers quarantine boxes

ESCANABA — In response to the increase in COVID-19 cases in the area, MDS Community Action Agency is now offering quarantine boxes for individuals and families who have income at or below 200% of poverty and are quarantined by Public Health or their doctor for COVID-19 related reasons. Also eligible are senior citizens who are at high risk and must stay at home most of the time due to their health risks.

MDSCAA is offering a food box which includes 28 meals for families or 56 meals for seniors, a cleaning box, and a personal care box to households who are either testing positive for COVID-19 or are quarantined by Public Health or a medical professional.

To get these boxes, call the Community Action Agency at 786-7080 X110. A telephone screening will be completed over the telephone. Boxes will be ordered and delivered within 24 hours if the call is placed before 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Telephone calls are not answered on the weekend.

MDSCAA is also offering additional assistance for utilities, heat including wood, water bills, plumbing problems, and shelter for households that are within 200% of the federal poverty level. For further information on these programs call 786-7080, Ext. 129.
