Support for U.P. Honor Flight

The 3rd Annual Doc Hirn Golf Tournament was a huge success this year. With the help of a community and family and friends $10,155 was raised towards future flights. Shown are, e from left, Chris Noel (grandson-in-law to Doc Hirn), Bruce Wallace (family friend), Carla Noel (granddaughter to Doc Hirn), Scott Knauf (UP Honor Flight), Tony Pouliot (owner of Terrace Bluff Golf Course), and Dominic Gibbons (great-grandson to Doc Hirn). New to the tournament this year was the veterans signs. These signs are a one time cost of $100 and will be displayed every year at future tournaments. This year 30 veterans signs were sold with hopes to sell many more in the future. The original idea for the tournament came from Dominic shortly after his great-grandfather passed away. His grandpa loved golfing and he thought having a tournament and donating the proceeds to the Honor Flight would be a great way to honor his grandpa’s memory. Doc Hirn was a former U.S. Navy and World War II veteran and was on Mission IV to Washington DC. He said next to marrying his wife and the birth of his children/grandchildren it was the best day he had ever had. Bruce Wallace lost his father Wilfred John Wallace this past year. Wilfred was a Woerld War II veteran with the U.S. Army Air Corp. He made a very generous donation to the tournament this year with money from his dad’s funeral.

Starting at $4.00/week.
