Northern Lights YMCA limiting access to building

ESCANABA — The Northern Lights YMCA, in cooperation with state and local health department guidelines, will be limiting access to the building beginning Monday, March 16 through Sunday, April 5.

During this period, school-age children (K-12) will not be allowed in the facility. All classes and programming including after-school programs will be suspended during this time. No day passes will be sold to children in that age range.

The YMCA child care center will remain open, and the rest of the building will be open as normal for members 18 and over.

“We are committed to providing the safest possible environment for children and adults in our programs and services, and that includes taking the necessary steps to help prevent the spread of illness. Our decision to limit access to children in grades K-12 is in accordance with a mandate issued by the governor,” YMCA officials said.

In addition to these precautions, the YMCA has significantly stepped up disinfection of all contact surfaces in our building.
