Man arrested, forcing way into home
ESCANABA — An Escanaba man was recently charged with home invasion – first degree in Delta County District Court after allegedly forcing his way into a home and threatening the residents in Escanaba.
Vittorio Sontino Distefano, 22, of Escanaba was arrested and charged with home invasion – first degree and is being held on a $30,000 cash/surety bond.
On March 21, Escanaba Public Safety Officers were dispatched to a residence on 2nd Avenue South for a report of a man threatening the residents with a knife.
Officers made contact with the resident and were told Distefano had forced his way into the residence by holding a knife to one of the resident’s throat. Distefano allegedly demanded money from the residents and fled the scene before the officers arrived.
When officers located Distefano, they found a pocket knife in his belongings.
Distefano’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 11.
