ESCANABA — Shoe Sensation, a regional chain of name brand family shoe stores, hosted its 3rd annual “Socks For Troops” company wide. Each store collected socks for active duty military or local veterans in our local communities. Shoe Sensation had military approved socks in store and customers received 20% off the socks donated. Customers were also able to bring in new socks to be donated.

“We couldn’t be happier and prouder of the support our community showed with their donations towards our Socks 4 Troops campaign. Having collected 235 last year & than collecting 436 pairs this year, showed us our community gets behind our efforts in helping out our Veterans & troops overseas. A big thank-you to all who contributed and shared stories” Says Marge Derkos, assistant area director for Shoe Sensation.

Shoe Sensation in Escanaba collected 436 pairs of socks during the months of November and December. The store had an increase of 85 percent in sock donations from last year to this year. The socks will be distributed to the local veterans and sent overseas to troops. Shoe Sensation would like to thank Jeff Ware, from the Days River Lions Club, for his help in transporting the socks overseas and bringing socks to the Jacobetti Centers for Veterans.
