FORD RIVER TOWNSHIP — The Ford River Volunteer Fire Department recently put its new grass fire truck into service. The department purchased a new 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD pickup truck to replace the 1992 Dodge pickup that is used for grass fires. The truck also responds to all accident scenes and is used to tow the department’s volume pump trailer that is used for refilling water tenders during large structure fires.

The purchase of the new truck was made possible thanks to the support of the community during fund raising events and with the cooperation of the Ford River Townshiip Board. Half the purchase price of the vehicle was paid for by money raised by Ford River firefighters during various fundraising events and the other half was funded by the Ford River Township Board.
