Road funding on Esky council agenda

ESCANABA — An update on funding available to maintain roads in Escanaba will be presented during council’s regular meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. at city hall.

The information is being presented to council as it proposes to ask voters to consider a millage specifically for road maintenance and underground utility repairs.

Other agenda items include hiring companies to conduct testing and do road work to improve 3rd Avenue North from Stephenson Avenue to North Lincoln Road.

Council will consider hiring a company to conduct a financial review of the water department to provide data on water rates and current and long-term needs of the city.

In other business, council will consider submitting applications for grants to fund non-motorized pathways and reconstruct four tennis courts within the city.

Several public events requesting to use public space this summer and fall are also included on Thursday’s agenda for council to approve.
