Eagles collecting for Toys for Tots Saturday

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Eagles Aries and Auxiliary 1088 will be collecting toys for Toys for Tots on Saturday, Dec. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Due to COVID-19 the Escanaba Eagles Aries and Auxiliary 1088 is closed, but members believe the children should not be the ones to suffer on Christmas.

Members will be in the front door to the Eagles bar, located at 608 Ludington Street in Escanaba, collecting toys. The door will be open.

Escanaba library offers Virtual Santa Storytime

ESCANABA — The Friends of the Escanaba Public Library will present a “Virtual Santa Storytime,” with seasonal stories and fun, plus a special gift for each participating child. To access the virtual program, visit the library’s web page at www.escanabalibrary.org anytime on or after Dec.15 and click on the Facebook icon, or follow the posted link for the video recording. It is not necessary to have a Facebook account to view the Storytime.

Santa will be a special guest at storytime and will invite families to pick up a gift for each child at the library’s drive-up window Dec. 18, 21, 22 and 23 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.

“Santa Storytime is a long-standing tradition here and a partnership between the Friends of the Library and the Canterbury Book Store,” said library director, Carolyn Stacey. “We felt it was important to keep it going, this year especially.”
