GLADSTONE — Gerald Gardner Burnham, age 81, of Wetmore, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2026 at Lakeview Assisted Living in Gladstone.

Gerald (Jerry) was born on September 1, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, to Gerald and Constance (Cole) Burnham. He graduated from Northville High School in 1962.

On August 20, 1965, Jerry married the love of his life, Glenda Wade. Together they shared over 60 years of marriage, building a life centered on love, family, and countless cherished memories.

Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy in 1965 and proudly served until 1967. He then began a career with the City of Novi Police Department, where he dedicated 28 years of service, retiring in 1995 as Lieutenant. Jerry tried his hand as an over the road trucker for a couple years but found his retirement niche driving a school bus for Munising Schools for many years.

Jerry loved spending time in Arizona. He was a great story-teller and loved to make people laugh. He was an avid reader and enjoyed staying active through running and exercise. He also had a passion for boating, snowmobiling, and automobiles. Above all, Jerry treasured time spent with his kids, grandchildren and great-grandchild, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. He also shared a special bond with his beloved German Shepherds.

Jerry is survived by his daughter, Stephanie (Brian) Moriarty; his son, Robert (Jennifer) Burnham; his sisters, Susan Whitlow and Judy Moore; his grandchildren, Zachary (Christine) Moriarty, Madison (Bryce) Carter, Jonathan Burnham, Abigail Burnham, and Annabel Burnham; his great grandchild, Gardner Carter.

Jerry is preceded in death by his spouse, Glenda Burnham; his parents; his brother, Brad Burnham; and his brothers-in-law, Tom Whitlow and Steve Moore.

A celebration of life is scheduled for both Jerry and Glenda on June 27th at Zerbos Bistro in Commerce, Michigan to honor their life together. The family will receive family and friends from 11 A.M. – 12:30 P.M.with lunch to follow. All are welcome to stay for lunch and share stories and memories with the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Upper Peninsula Honor Flight and Lakeview Assisted Living.
