UPAALP fall meeting canceled for 2020

HERMANSVILLE — The 2020 Upper Peninsula Association of American Legion Posts fall meeting has been canceled by a vote of the Upper Peninsula Association of American Legion Administration Committee due to the COVID-19 social restrictions in place, and also because there would be no reports from the Department Fall Conference to give.

The Department Fall Conference in Flint is in serious jeopardy of being canceled due to COVID-19 social restrictions. At this time, however, no determination has been made.

Rapid Readers to meet

RAPID RIVER — The Rapid Readers will meet on Thursday, Sept. 17, at Jack’s Restaurant at 10 a.m. in Rapid River.

The novels “The Huntress” by K. Quinn, “The Great Leader” by J. Harrison and “The House at the Edge of Night” by C. Bonner will be discussed.

October’s meeting will take place Thursday, Oct. 8 at Jack’s at 10 a.m. Members can submit suggestions for the future reading list via the club site or at the meeting.

New members are welcome. Direct questions to Peg Netchey at 428-9668. Masks are required to enter the restaurant.

Wells Lions Club raffle winner named

WELLS — The winner of the Wells Lions Club 52 week raffle for Aug. 31 is Beth Gauthier of Bark River, who won $100. This was week five of the raffle.

Honoree Dinner canceled

GARDEN — The Garden Peninsula Historical Society has decided to cancel the Honoree Dinner, scheduled for September due to COVID-19.

Delta County MARSP meetings canceled

ESCANABA — Due to COVID-19 concerns, the September, October, and November meetings of the Delta County Chapter of MARSP have been canceled.
