Spaghetti dinner Oct. 12

TRENARY — The Trenary United Methodist Church will be hosting a spaghetti dinner on Oct. 12 from 4:30 until 6:30 p.m. at the church in Trenary. A free will offering will be collected with 10 percent of funds raised given back to the community.

Live music at Amvets

ESCANABA — Amvets Post 123 is hosting the band “Country Cousins” Friday, Sept. 20 at 7 p.m.

Blacksmithing demo

HERMANSVILLE — Rob Hornik of Liberty Forge will be giving a blacksmithing presentation at the IXL Historical Museum in Hermansville on Sunday, Sept. 22. The presentation will begin at 1:30 p.m. CDT. Hornik will share the history of blacksmithing, show and describe the use of the trade’s tools, provide demonstrations, and answer questions.

Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Donuts and spiced tea will be available for purchase during the presentation. The museum is located at W5561 River Street in Hermansville.

A Journey Through Grief to meet Sept. 26

ESCANABA — “A Journey Through Grief” is a bereavement support group presented on behalf of UP Health System Hospice. This is a non-denominational support group that is open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one. It provides educational materials and guide discussions on a variety of topics to assist those in the grieving process.

“A Journey Through Grief” is offered the last Thursday of every month. The next session is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 26 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Church, 1820 9th Ave. N. in Escanaba.

The group will be facilitated by Lewis Hague, UP Health System Hospice bereavement coordinator and coordinated by Gayle DeShambo, account executive for UP Health System Hospice.

This support group is open to anyone in our community that is grieving the loss of a loved one.

Bingo volunteers needed

GLADSTONE — The Gladstone Senior Center is seeking volunteers to chair and run the weekly Tuesday night bingo. Bingo at the senior center is the main fundraiser for the operation and maintenance of the building.

The Gladstone Senior Citizens Non-Profit Corporation is a group of senior citizens with a 12-member board of directors that own and maintain the building. The building, which hosts daily activities for seniors, is also occupied by the Community Action Agency, which serves Gladstone and some nearby areas with Meals on Wheels program lunches.

Those interested in running bingo at the senior center or who would like more information are asked to call 906-420-2730.

MARSP to meet Oct. 2

ESCANABA — The October meeting for the Delta County Chapter of MARSP will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at noon at St. Joseph’s Church in Perkins. Members are asked to note the change in day.

A dinner will be served.

Members are asked to bring any unused candles, which will be collected and distributed to Lakestate Industries.

Sheriff Ed Oswald will give a presentation on the new jail.

Members who are not on a calling list should call 906-786-7748 by Thursday, Sept. 26. For cancellations, call the same number no later than Sunday, Sept. 29.

MADD seeks volunteers

ESCANABA — Volunteers are needed for MADD. Opportunities are available for those interested in volunteering a couple of times a year or a couple of times a week. There are a wide variety of opportunities to match interests and expertise. Some options include speaking, answering the help-line calls, organizing victim impact panels, mailing information or just displaying MADD red ribbons.
