Fire department benefit ­breakfast Sunday

FORD RIVER — Ford River Volunteer Fire Department will be having a pancake breakfast and bake sale on Sunday, April 28 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Ford River Township Hall. Guests can follow the signs from M-35 or U.S. 2 and 41.

The fire department would also like to remind the public to change the batteries in their smoke detectors.

Firework dinner tonight

HERMANSVILLE — The Hermansville Firework Committee will be holding a spaghetti and chicken fundraiser on April 27 from 3 to 7 p.m. CST at the Hermansville Community Club. There will be raffles, door prizes, and inflatable jumps for the kids. Take-out will also be available.

One hundred percent of proceeds go to pay for the fireworks on 4th of July.

Hermansville American Legion breakfast

HERMANSVILLE — Hermansville American Legion Post 340 will be having a pancake/French toast breakfast Sunday, April 28 from 8 to 11 a.m. The meal is all you can eat, and proceeds benefit Legion projects.

Elks help with Drug Take-Back Day

ESCANABA — Escanaba Elks 354 will be taking part in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Lodge, located at 510 Ludington St., will be open to everyone for a safe, convenient and responsible way to dispose of unused or expired prescription medication.

Story hour today at Gladstone Library

GLADSTONE — Children ages 2 to 10 years old are invited to join in the festivities at Gladstone Public Library’s story hour on Saturday, April 27 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Children will enjoy stories, create a special spring craft, eat snacks and sing songs.

Croatian chicken dinner

GLADSTONE — Sons of the American Legion Squadron 71 is hosting a Croatian chicken dinner on Sunday, May 5 from 3 to 6 p.m. It will be held at the American Legion, 802 Delta Avenue, Gladstone.

The squadron asks guests call ahead and reserve their dinners, as there is a limited amount of chicken available. Call 906-428-1050 to reserve a meal.

Dinners may be taken out or eaten in the hall.

Escanaba River Legion to meet Wednesday

FLAT ROCK — The monthly meeting of Escanaba River American Legion Post 115 and the auxiliary will be held at the Escanaba Township Hall at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 1.

MARSP to meet May 7

GLADSTONE — The May meeting of MARSP will be held on May 7, at noon at the United Memorial Methodist Church in Gladstone. Lunch will be served, and the program will feature the annual report.

Elks Auxiliary to meet

ESCANABA — The Escanaba Elks Auxiliary will hold its May meeting on Thursday, May 2. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., dinner is at 7 p.m., with the meeting to follow. A steak dinner will be served.
