Delta County MARSP to meet Sept. 11 in Harris

HARRIS — The Delta County chapter of MARSP will hold its September meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at noon (eastern time) at the Island Resort and Casino.

Shannon Taylor, executive director of Hope at the Inn, will present the program.

There is a charge for the luncheon.

DAV to hold meeting

ESCANABA — The next scheduled meeting for the DAV Chapter 24 will be held on Monday, Sept. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Military Order of the Purple Heart building, located at 1202 Sheridan Road, Escanaba.

All disabled veterans are welcome.

Annual Fall Festival at St. Rita Parish returns

TRENARY — St. Rita Parish in Trenary will hold its annual Fall Festival on the parish grounds on Sunday, Sept. 9. A harvest dinner featuring turkey with all the trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. in the parish hall. There is a fee for the dinner, but children under five eat free. Take-out dinners will be available.

Special games for young and old alike will be featured on the grounds, including bingo. There will be a silver dollar game, craft and baked goods booths, a refreshment stand and music by Mary Lynn and Doug. The raffle drawing will be held at 4 p.m.

Everyone is welcome. Please note that Sunday Mass will be celebrated at 11:15 a.m., on Sept. 9.

Croatian chicken dinner

GLADSTONE — Sons of the American Legion Squadron 71 is hosting a Croatian chicken dinner on Sunday, Sept. 9 from 3 to 6 p.m. It will be held at the American Legion, 802 Delta Avenue, Gladstone.

The Legion asks that you call ahead and reserve your dinner, as there is a limited amount of chickens available. To make a reservation, call 906-428-1050. You may take out the dinners or eat in at the hall.

Fish or chicken dinner in Gladstone Sept. 14

GLADSTONE — A dinner featuring fried fish or chicken will take place Friday, Sept. 14 at Memorial United Methodist Church, located at 1920 Lake Shore Ave. in Gladstone.

Dinner will be served from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Kids age 7 and under eat free.

A community concert will follow at 8 p.m. with a free will offering.

SERA luncheon set for Sept. 10 in Escanaba

ESCANABA — U.P. Chapter 16 State Employee Retirees Association (SERA) September luncheon will be on Monday, Sept. 10, noon at the Highland Golf Club, located west of Escanaba.

ESCANABA — There will be a benefit held on Sept. 22 at Crazy Joe’s Pool Hall for Shane Goodchild.

The benefit will be held from 4 p.m. until closing. There will be door prizes, bucket raffles, 50/50 drawings and music. Food is included with the admission fee.

Genealogical society to meet Sept. 26 in Esky

ESCANABA — The Delta County Genealogical Society’s next meeting is Wednesday, Sept. 26.

The meeting will be held at the Family History Center in Escanaba at 7 p.m.
