Brian Stefl

ESCANABA — It is our pleasure to announce that the Escanaba Elks Lodge 354 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the United States of America has selected Brian Stefl as the Elk of the Year for the 2017-2018 Fraternal Year.

Stefl has been a member of the Elks for 20 years and has proven himself to be an active and dedicated member.

A rare occurrence over the more than 120 year history of the Escanaba Lodge, this is not the first time Stefl has received this honorable distinction. He received this honor in 2015-2016 when the lodge members all thought no one could possibly do more work that year than he did. Well, this year, he proved them all wrong. With a tireless work ethic and a passion for the lodge, rarely a day went by where Stefl wasn’t working on a project to improve the facility or volunteering to help with one of our events.

Whether it was cooking in the kitchen for a fundraiser or member event, or patching the roof, or working on the boiler — if Stefl was around, he was always one of the first to offer a helping hand.

A millwright by trade, Stefl is often away from the local area on job assignments. As he proved time and time again this past year, when he’s not away, he’s often at the lodge. Often he can be found tackling a project he wanted to do just simply to make things better for all of those that enjoys the lodge.

He was also a major contributor to the efforts this past summer to completely remodel the bowling alley bar and common space.

The Escanaba Elks would like to congratulate Stefl on this well-deserved recognition and thank him again for his countless hours of volunteerism and dedication to the Lodge.
