Women’s golf league

ESCANABA — Highland Golf Club opening meeting for Women’s league will be Wednesday. A social period begins at 5:30 p.m. with the meeting taking place at 6 p.m.

American Legion Post 115 meeting

ESCANABA — The American Legion Post 115, Escanaba River, will meet on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Flatrock Hall.

National Day of Prayer

ESCANABA — The public is invited to gather at Bay College on Thursday to pray for our community and Nation on the National Day of Prayer. The prayer will take place from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Joseph Herman University Center room 952.

Bay Sages monthly meeting

ESCANABA — The regular monthly meeting of Bay Sages will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College in Escanaba.

This month’s speaker is Jim Soderberg, presenting “The Polar Bear Expedition, 1918-1919.”

Bay Sages is an organization established to provide educational opportunities for older adults residing in the Delta County area. Dues for the year are payable at the meeting or can be mailed to Bay Sages at Bay College and include monthly meetings, coffee and cookies and a wide variety of educational opportunities for members.

Guests and new members are always welcome to attend. Food items and monetary donations for the Bay College Food Pantry are gratefully accepted at all meetings.

Spring Salad Luncheon

ESCANABA — A Spring Salad Luncheon is to be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 819 1st Ave. S. on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Salads, veggies, breads, fruits, coffee, tea, milk, jello and desserts will be served. Please bring a friend.

Church pasty sale

ESCANABA — Central United Methodist Church, 322 S Lincoln Road, will be holding a pasty sale on Friday. All orders must be made by 10 a.m. on May 4.

Orders can be made by calling the church at 906-786-0643 or Arleen at 906-280-5828. Orders after deadline will be placed on a reserve list.

When ordering, specify if pasties are to be made with or without rutabaga.

Eagles memorial

ESCANABA — Escanaba Eagles will conduct a memorial service on Saturday, May 9 at 1 p.m. to honor the following deceased members of Aerie and Auxiliary:

Mother’s Day meal at Rapid River Legion

Parkinson Foundation support group meeting

ESCANABA — The Michigan Parkinson Foundation support group for Escanaba and the surrounding areas meets the second Tuesday of each month at 1:00 p.m. The next meeting is Tuesday, May 12 at 1 p.m. at the Community Action Agency, 507 1st Ave. North, Escanaba.

St. Charles Church pasty sale

RAPID RIVER — St. Charles Church in Rapid River will be selling fresh pasties on Tuesday, May 19. Pickup is from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Parish Center. Preorder now for Memorial Day.

Habitat golf tournament

IRON MOUNTAIN — Habitat for Humanity’s Menominee River branch is holding its “Raise the Roof” golf outing on Thursday, May 21 at TimberStone.

Money from sponsors and entrants goes toward helping neighbors perform needed repairs on their homes.

Lakeview accepting items for rummage sale

ESCANABA — Lakeview Cemetery is accepting donations for its annual rummage sale. People may make drop-offs to 2110 Third Avenue South in Escanaba from now until May 23 between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

To have items picked up from the donor’s home, people may call Sharon at 906-553-2403. No clothes, mattresses or electronics will be accepted. The rummage sale will be in early June. Lakeview thanks the public in advance.

Pet supply drive

ESCANABA — Menards is serving as a drop site for donations of pet supplies — food, treats, feeders, collars, beds and more — that will be donated to the Humane Association. A collection box will be near the exit doors of the Escanaba store at 3300 Ludington St. until May 31.

Gladstone Class of ’76 reunion

GLADSTONE – The Gladstone High School Class of 1976 will be holding their 50th High school class reunion July 2 at the Gladstone Golf club. Please refer to the class’ facebook page for more details: GHS Class of 1976 Reunion.

ESCANABA — The Holy Name Class of 1966 has scheduled its 60th reunion for Sept. 12 at the Escanaba Elks Club starting at 4 p.m.

Escanaba Class of ’76 reunion

ESCANABA — The Escanaba High School Class of 1976 has scheduled its 50th reunion for Sept. 26 at the Highland Golf Course.

A schedule of events for the weekend and registration materials will be provided on the class Facebook page, Escanaba Class of 1976, or by email.

Donations sought for book sale

ESCANABA — The Delta County League of Women Voters is looking for donations of books, audio books, DVDs and music CDs to be sold at its annual book sale at the Waterfront Art Festival. Funds from the sale are used to publish Voter Guides and for other voter services.

Donated materials should be no more than 10 years old and in good condition. The league is not able to accept and store large quantities of books and requests the books meet the donation criteria.

Large print books are often requested.

Books can be delivered during normal business hours to the Ludington Centre, 1112 Ludington St. Donors are asked to use the 11th Street entrance, Suite 208, and look for the league’s sign. For pick-up, call Pat Rudden at 906-280-1789.

Delta County Cancer Alliance seeks Donations

ESCANABA — The Delta County Cancer Alliance (DCCA) is in need of bed pads. Many of the DCCA’s clients who are going through cancer treatments appreciate the convenience of using bed pads for comfort and cleanliness at a very challenging time. The DCCA will accept donations at their office, 3430 Ludington St, Monday through Friday from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Delta Animal Shelter requests donations

ESCANABA — The Delta Animal Shelter is in need of the following donations: Purina Cat Chow (blue bag), Purina Kitten Chow (yellow bag), NutriSource chicken/rice dog food, Purina One chicken/rice dog food, canned dog food, canned cat/kitten food, soft dog treats, scoopable cat litter, clay cat litter, bleach, liquid Lysol, paper towels, dish soap, garbage bags, power laundry detergent, hand sanitizer, dog collars/leashes, rabbit food and hay.

Monetary donations would be exceptionally helpful, especially with the amount of medical and police cases.

Donations can be dropped off at the shelter, 6975 County Road 426, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or outside the building in the donation box.

Gladstone church offers clothing

GLADSTONE — The Memorial United Methodist Church, 1920 Lake Shore Drive in Gladstone, has a free clothes closet with coats, and shoes available in most sizes. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays or by appointment by calling 906-428-9311. Donations are also accepted.
