Lippens celebrate 50 years of marriage

Jim and Bonnie Lippens

ESCANABA — Jim and Bonnie Lippens celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Aug. 8.

The former Bonnie Bedard married James Lippens in 1970 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Escanaba. At the time, Jim was stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro, N.C.

Jim enjoys walking ten miles every day, hunting, and fishing. Bonnie enjoys gardening, growing beautiful flowers, and scrapbooking. Both love spending time with their beloved grandchildren, family, and friends. They also enjoy going for rides together in their Can-Am.

The Lippens have two daughters, Michelle (Michael) Oxford of Escanaba and Melanie (Alan) Thorsen of Anderson, Ind. They have four grandchildren, Brandon and Breanne Oxford and Gia and Troy Thorsen.

Due to COVID-19, a small celebratory dinner was shared with both of their daughters’ families.
