Delta Conservation District election

EDITOR: If you’ve been following the Delta County Commission meetings the last six months you know that the Delta Conservation District and it’s CEO Rory Mattson have been talked about on a regular basis. Now is the time you can have some input on who sits on that board. There are two seats up this year. You can vote in person between now and June 21t at the Conservation District office at Pioneer Trail Park Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with proper ID. No to annexation proposal

EDITOR: At recent Escanaba Township and Cornell Township board meetings many residents from both townships voiced their strong opposition to the annexation proposal (as recently published in the Daily Press) and promoted and supported by Delta County Board Commissioner Robert Barron. In fact, both township boards are opposed to that proposal. Additionally, over 130 residents who originally signed the petition (proposal) have now requested, in writing, to have their names removed because most feel that the extent of the proposal (removing nearly 50%, 19,000 acres from Escanaba ...

No annexation

EDITOR: Say no to the annexation scam. Tearing a township in half without the approval of both townships is not a move any elected official should have the right to do. An elected official would financially benefit by hundreds of thousands of dollars a year. Half of the township forced into Cornell includes four members on the township boards. County board concerns

EDITOR: My concerns expressed today have to do with our county board of commissioners. Watching the board meetings on YouTube is a very stressful event for me. I cannot get to the meetings due to the time they hold them. I am not retired and work until 5:30 p.m. I wonder the reason they find it beneficial to hold the meetings at 5:00/5:15 p.m. when people are just leaving work. I am a licensed mental health therapist and watching a meeting creates emotional confusion, chaos and invalidation of personhood in the viewer. Missing brick work

EDITOR: I don’t know who had the bright idea to cover up the beautiful brick work at the Gladstone Great Lakes First Federal Credit Union in Gladstone, but it sure is a shame. I have admired the wonderful craftsmanship of that building since I was a kid going to see Dr. Hult when he had his office there. Most people put up vinyl siding to cover up boards that need paint. I was told they want it to look like the Escanaba Credit Union. They are seven miles apart, who cares if they look alike. Terrible decision. Ann Christiansen Gladstone

EDITOR: In response to Diana Peach’s letter. Enbridge pipeline transports more than Canadian oil. That is the first point. Second, Enbridge has proposed to build a tunnel, fully encased in concrete, to protect the pipeline(s) under the Straits. They are paying for this. At the present time, the pipelines are okay unless an ore boat drops anchor and causes a hole. How many times has that happened? And, since the current pipeline is getting old, it is time to do this other proposal. The tunnel will allow enough room to drive a vehicle inside. So, if there would happen to be a problem, ...
