EDITOR: was workers who were behind America’s prosperity. Please join the Marquette Alger County Labor Council and the U.P. Regional Labor Federation on September 3rd in Negaunee for a Labor Day parade and picnic. The parade of organized labor affiliates starts at 11 a.m. marching together in solidarity down Iron and Rail Streets. EDITOR: At one time, I would have called myself a Democratic voter, however, the current party is simply using the name. Their agenda/policies reflect Socialism. The irony is they claim Trump is a threat to democracy. When voting this year, please consider: “we can vote ourselves into a Socialistic government, yet, it is impossible to vote ourselves out of the iron fist we said yes to.” What has defined America? EDITOR: The COVID virus ravaged our bodies physically, but a cure/preventative was sought and brought to the public to stem its effects on our community. Now, a “moral” virus has infected us for the past two years and appears to be spreading. Unfortunately, there is no current way to abate the destruction it causes in our midst. The virus was demonstrated as “blisters” in social media as well as the press. It represented itself as threats against elected officials and their families. Misinformation

EDITOR: Just saw the letter from Dana VanEffen about misinformation, and asking people to be informed voters. It was a response to a letter from Charles Smouthers who was upset about forced closures during COVID. Ms. VanEffen then says Trump ordered a national shutdown. This is of course, false. Who is the mis-informed voter here? Trump in early March issued three emergency declarations, none of which included any shutdowns, basically just allowed the government to disburse money to the states. EDITOR: I just read Charles S Smouthers 8/8 letter where he spread a lot of misinformation and disinformation. Let’s just examine one of the many points he wrote. “Trump never closed my church, took away my right to assemble with other Americans, told me how many people I could have in my home or required me to keep travel papers in my truck. President Trump never threatened Americans with loss of employment for refusing to get a dangerous drug injected into their bodies.” They say Americans have short memories. That appears to be true.
