Meet the Athlete: Finley Morris

HANNAHVILLE — Big Bay de Noc soccer team played in a soccer/volleyball doubleheader against Hannahville on Oct. 1, 2025. Before the game Daily Press sports writer Adam Hinch got a chance to catch up with Black Bears freshman goalie Finley Morris to discuss a variety of topics.
Adam Hinch: What got you into soccer?
Finley Morris: I started playing at a very young age, My sisters convinced me to play soccer and I started out playing summer league with them and just continued playing it.
AH: Did you look up to your sisters as role-models?
FM: Yeah, well there were weeks where they actually raised me. Throughout my years they have always been there, even with sports they still help me. They throw balls to ,e and bring me to games and practices.
AH: What do you like to do in your spare time?
FM: I either work at my Grandma’s restaurant or hang out with friends. I live in a good town and there is always something to do.
AH: What is your favorite food?
FM: I like mongolian beef and all kinds of Chinese food.
AH: What is your favorite subject in school?
FM: I’d have to say P.E. I have fun with that.
AH: What is your favorite football team?
FM: The Detroit Lions 100 percent.
AH: Do you have a favorite player?
FM: He is a new player. I really like Sam LaPorta.
AH: What is your favorite soft drink?
FM: I’d have to say Sprite.
AH: What is your favorite kind of music?
FM: I really enjoy classic rock like Stone Temple Pilots.
AH: What are your goals for after high school?
FM: I hope to continue playing sports but I’m looking into the welding industry.
AH: If you could go anywhere on vacation where would you go?
FM: I would like to go to Brazil. I’ve always talked about it and have seen photos of how beautiful it is there.
